Photon manufactures components for new ÖBB night trains

The Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) have big plans for the next few years. Among other things, night train connections to European cities are to be expanded. As an important supplier for the production of the new night trains, Photon is part of this forward-looking project. More night trains as a contribution to climate protection Once the coronavirus pandemic has subsided, ÖBB's Nightjet will [...]
Laser beam welding in rail vehicle construction

Photon presentation at the 13th SLV symposium „Joining and design in rail vehicle construction“
Additive manufacturing of topology-optimized large components

Complex lightweight structures can be produced resource-efficiently and with low manufacturing effort using laser metal deposition. Potentially, the process can also be used to replace conventionally manufactured large components. The project partners Fraunhofer IWS, Photon, Arnold, and Bombardier aim to achieve weight reductions of 10 to 15 % for components in rail vehicle technology.
