Faster, more efficient, cheaper
Digital signal boxes and train control components will shape the future of rail transport. Photon is making an important contribution with its SEW95-LWL connection box.
- Enables replacement of conventional copper connections with more powerful fiber optic connections for LST and telecommunications applications
- Significant space savings, low maintenance, and weather resistance
- Proven, robust design and easy installation
Project details
With the SEW95-LWL connection box, Photon offers the option of replacing the copper connections previously used for distribution and connection technology (LST and telecommunications applications) in the track area with fiber optic connections.
This is particularly important in view of the development of digital signal boxes (DSTW) for the expansion of the European rail network.
The Photon SEW95-LWL connection box is suitable for the space-saving and secure integration of sensors and distribution technology into a fiber optic ring as a data transmission medium. The SEW95-LWL connection box is based on the proven SEW95-2 design for signal technology applications.
The SEW95-LWL connection box contains fiber optic splice cassettes for up to 48 fibers and up to four factory-pre-assembled outdoor duplex couplings including fiber optics. Pre-assembled connection cables with outdoor connectors are available in various lengths for connecting sensor and distribution technology.
These allow for an optimized construction process during the erection of a plant as well as quick maintenance by replacing the plug-in connection that can be loosened with a tool. The first prototype assembly took place in November 2018. The testing and release process at Deutsche Bahn has thus begun.
