An illuminated handrail is a practical and sustainable solution that is often used in stairwells and corridors. Not only does it increase safety by making paths more visible in the dark, it also reduces light pollution.
Another important issue is light pollution. This is caused by excessive or disorderly lighting that illuminates the night sky and can have negative effects on the environment, wildlife, and human health. Light pollution can disrupt the natural sleep patterns of humans and animals, impair the orientation of nocturnal animals, and even affect plant growth. Photon's sustainable LHP projects light in a targeted and uniform manner into the area to be illuminated, while sparing adjacent areas, unlike conventional light poles.
The LHP uses LEDs, which provide energy-efficient and long-lasting lighting. Maintenance and cleaning of the system is recommended every two years.
Outlook
Illuminated handrails will be of particular importance in DB AG railway tunnels in the future for safety and orientation in the event of an evacuation, as is already standard practice in Austria and Switzerland. Photon's illuminated handrail provides optimal lighting for the escape route, enabling an orderly and effective evacuation. Thanks to its continuous illumination, the LHP also serves as a visual orientation aid by showing the course of the tunnel and helping users find the exit or other important points.
