An illuminated handrail is a practical and sustainable solution that is often used in stairwells and corridors. Not only does it increase safety by making paths more visible in the dark, it also reduces light pollution.

Illuminated handrails also play an important role in DB AG track areas, particularly in stations or on tracks. They not only contribute to safety, but also improve orientation and visibility in the vicinity of the tracks. Photon's low-level track lighting ensures good illumination of the areas along the tracks and thus reduces the risk of accidents.

Another important issue is light pollution. This is caused by excessive or disorganized lighting that illuminates the night sky and can have a negative impact on the environment, wildlife and human health. Light pollution can disrupt the natural sleep patterns of humans and animals, impair the orientation of nocturnal animals and even affect plant growth. Future

In future, illuminated handrails will be of particular importance in DB AG railroad tunnels for safety and orientation in the event of an evacuation, as is already standard in Austria and Switzerland. The illuminated handrail from Photon ensures optimum illumination of the escape route and thus enables an orderly and effective evacuation. Thanks to the uninterrupted lighting, the LHP also serves as a visual orientation aid by indicating the course of the tunnel and helping users to find the exit or other important points.
